The updated Emergency Department at Hopedale Medical Complex is a comprehensive, modern, multidisciplinary center staffed to treat the needs of adults and children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The Emergency Department has 3 brand new state-of-the-art rooms. HMC’s Emergency Department is proud that it serves approximately 2,000 patients annually assisting them in their time of need. Using the skills and expertise of general practitioners and highly trained specialists, the HMC Emergency Department physicians and nurses are prepared to care for seriously ill and injured patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The HMC Emergency Department will diagnose emergency conditions and undertake acute interventions to stabilize patients.
This often includes:
Intensive care of most trauma patients
Advanced cardiac life support
Advanced airway management
Management of drug overdoses
For critically injured or ill patients, HMC will transfer patients to Peoria or Springfield hospitals by ambulance or helicopter. The air and ground units are staffed by a team of specially trained flight paramedics, flight nurses, emergency medicine resident physicians, EMS pilots, and a communication specialist. Each of these individuals plays an important role and is ready to respond to medical needs during transport.
Short Wait Time
Did you know that if you walk into the doors of the HMC Emergency Department, on average, a patient at HMC waits only 12 minutes before seeing a physician! Our short wait times allow for patients to be seen quickly without having to compromise the high level of service they are accustom to. Please be aware that at HMC, all of our patients are important, but we must provide care to the most critical patient first. In these instances, your wait time may vary based on your condition and the number of patients ahead of you when you arrive.
Upon your discharge, you will be given instructions by your Emergency Department physician or nurse. Please contact your primary care physician for any follow-up care you may need. If you do not have a primary care physician, we have a staff of doctors to serve your needs.
Hopedale Medical Complex's Brand New Emergency Room Department opened in May 2015.
