The National Rural Rating System Awards Hopedale Medical Complex Prestigious 5-Star Rating
December 26, 2022

Hopedale, IL – The National Rural Rating Systems is proud to announce that Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale, IL, has earned a 5-star rating in a new ratings program for rural and critical access hospitals, called the 5-Star National Rural Rating System. The program celebrates the extraordinary patient experiences provided by rural and critical access hospitals across the United States.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Hopedale Medical Complex on winning a 5-star reward from the National Rural Recognition System (NRRS),” said Brian Lee, Founding Partner of NRRS. “This is a truly impressive achievement, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Hopedale Medical Complex.”

“Winning this award is more than an honor for us, it continues to highlight the important role that we have played in rural healthcare since 1955,” said Emily Whitson, COO at Hopedale Medical Complex.  “We are dedicated to providing physician-directed, patient-focused care to those who need it most, and we are grateful for this recognition of our efforts.”

The 5-Star Rating System ranks rural and critical access hospitals – with five stars being the top ranking and one star being the lowest. The Star Ratings are similar to the CMS Stars, which allow hospitals/clinics to promote their success and are used as high-quality recognitions. Most small and rural hospitals (60%) do not qualify because of low number of qualifying inpatients for the CMS Rankings, but they are held to the same high patient satisfaction criteria. This new program recognizes the hard work and dedication rural and critical access hospitals provide across the country. The rankings will include overnight hospital stays (HCAHPS) and are based on data collected by certified CMS patient satisfaction vendors.

The National Rural Ratings System was created in collaboration with the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN), Survey Solutions by ICAHN, Custom Learning Systems, Wyoming Department of Health, New Mexico Department of Health, and AdCo.
