The media and general public are invited to the 3rd Annual Major Reid Nannen Memorial 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk in Hopedale, IL on July 4. The 5K has a new start/finish line at the awesome Hopedale Area Veterans Memorial, located at 200 Grove Street in Hopedale. The race begins at 7:30am followed by the Fun Run. Both the 5K and Fun Run will feature an all new route through Hopedale. This event is dedicated to the memory of Major Reid Nannen, who died in a Top Gun training accident on March 1, 2014. He was truly a Hopedale Hometown Hero.
The Reid Nannen Memorial race helps to raise funds for the maintenance of the beautiful Hopedale Area Veterans Memorial which honors hundreds of veterans. The Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, 2017 and honors members of the Armed Forces connected to Hopedale from Civil War era veterans through the present. A complimentary VIP tent will be set up for members of the media.
