|The Emergency Department at Hopedale Medical Complex is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary center staffed to treat the needs of adults and children with life threatening illnesses and injuries.
HMC’s Emergency Department processes approximately 2000 patients annually. Using the skills and expertise of general practitioners and highly-trained specialists, HMC Emergency Department physicians and nurses are prepared to care for seriously ill and injured patients 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
The HMC Emergency Department will diagnose emergency conditions and undertake acute interventions to stabilize patients. This often includes:
For critically injured or ill patients, HMC will transfer patients to Peoria or Springfield hospitals by ambulance or helicopter.
The air and ground units are staffed by a team of specially trained flight paramedics, flight nurses, emergency medicine resident physicians, EMS pilots, and a communication specialist, who are ready to respond to medical needs during transport.
Short Wait Time
One advantage of coming to HMC’s Emergency Department is the short wait time before being seen by a physician. On average, a patient at HMC waits 12 minutes before seeing a physician. At HMC, we provide care to the most critical patients first, so your wait time may vary based on your condition and the number of patients ahead of you when you arrive.
Upon your discharge, you will be given instructions by your Emergency Department physician or nurse. Please contact your primary care physician for any follow-up care you may need. If you do not have a primary care physician, we have a staff of doctors to serve your needs.
Patients are responsible for all services provided during your visit to the Emergency Room. If a valid ID card or other information regarding insurance is presented at the time of your visit, we will bill your insurance carriers appropriately.
